werehyena

werehyena

"In folklore, a werehyena is a creature which can shapeshift into a hyena. The creature has origins across countless African cultures. It is also present in tales on the Arabian Peninsula. Unlike werewolves and other therianthropes, which are usually portrayed as being originally human, some werehyena lore tells of how they can also be hyenas disguised as humans."

Dream of the Day

Mood: warm | Archetype: Jester
Elements: zany gum expedite

Dream Illustration

I found myself in a sun-drenched, slightly askew bakery, all warm woods and the intoxicating scent of cinnamon, but instead of loaves, there were these incredible, shimmering, iridescent gum bubbles. Each one hummed softly with its own unique color and personality, called 'Jubilee Jiggle-Gum,' and they were notoriously slow to 'ripen' – each needing its own sweet, leisurely time before it was ready to burst with joy. That's where I came in, with a mischievous twinkle in my eye, ready to stir things up.

I wasn't *breaking* any rules, exactly, just... bending them like a funhouse mirror. I’d pick up a waiting bubble, hold it to my ear, and whisper absurd, delightful secrets to it – old jokes, silly rhymes, even the recipe for a giggle. It wasn't about heat or pressure; it was about pure, concentrated whimsy, a playful nudge from the very fabric of absurdity itself, designed to playfully circumvent the usual slow-poke process. With each whisper, the bubble would swell, its colors intensifying, vibrating with a quicker, happier rhythm.

In moments, a once-slumbering sphere would practically leap from my hands, fully formed and ready to float out into the world, trailing a scent of spontaneous celebration. There was no rush, no stress, just the sheer, unadulterated delight of hastening joy, a delightful little rebellion against the notion that good things must always take their slow, predictable course. It felt like I was a conductor of glee, orchestrating a symphony of swift, silly smiles, leaving a deeply warm and ridiculously fun feeling in its wake.
