"Ifrit, also spelled as efreet, afrit, and afreet, plural ุนูุงุฑูŠุช สฟafฤrฤซt), is a powerful type of demon in Islamic culture. The สฟafฤrฤซt are often associated with the underworld and identified with the spirits of the dead, and have been compared to evil genii locorum in European culture. In Quran, hadith, and Mi'raj narrations the term functions as an epithet, always followed by the phrase "among the jinn". Due to the ambiguous meaning of the term jinn, their relation to other spirits is often unclear."

Dream of the Day

Mood: whimsical | Archetype: Lover
Elements: abhorrent lock seal

Dream Illustration

I found myself drifting through a garden that shimmered with an impossible, soft-focus glow, petals of every known and unknown hue unfurling in languid slow motion. The air itself felt like a gentle embrace, thick with the scent of night-blooming jasmine and ripe figs, yet amidst this tender beauty, there it was: a lock. It wasn't merely ugly; it was truly abhorrent, a knot of rusted, grasping tendrils that pulsed with a faint, resentful chill, its keyhole a gaping, empty maw that seemed to whisper of forgotten promises and cold isolation. It felt like a barrier I'd carried, something that denied the very warmth that now enveloped me.

My heart ached with a curious, tender resolve. I knew I couldn't break it, couldn't force it open, for its very nature was resistance. Instead, I reached out, not with aggression, but with a strange, deep affection, a knowing touch. As my fingers brushed its twisted form, a golden, liquid light began to emanate from my palm, flowing around the lock like warm honey, caressing its sharp edges and filling its desolate core. It wasn't about destroying the thing, but acknowledging its hurt, wrapping it in understanding.

Slowly, tenderly, the golden light solidified, encasing the entire abhorrent lock in a translucent, amber-like sphere. It still existed, but its resentful chill was gone, replaced by a quiet, contained hum. It was no longer a barrier, but a beautiful, albeit melancholic, jewel, held safely within my inner garden. A profound sense of release blossomed in my chest, a feeling of being utterly open, ready to truly connect, without the old, cold fear of being unloved.

The Iron Heel

The Iron Heel

by Jack London

Jack London's prescient novel thrusts readers into an early 20th-century America teetering on the brink, where a burgeoning socialist movement challenges the entrenched capitalist elite. When the wealthy respond with overwhelming force, the story unfolds as a chilling chronicle of the rise of a brutal oligarchyโ€”the "Iron Heel"โ€”and humanity's desperate struggle against its crushing tyranny.
