Quote of the Day
Creature of the Day
vahana
"The vฤhana or vahanam denotes the being, typically an animal or mythical entity, a particular Hindu deity is said to use as a vehicle. In this capacity, the vฤhana is often called the deity's "mount". Upon the partnership between the deity and his vฤhana is woven into much iconography and Hindu theology. Deities are often depicted riding the vฤhana. Other times, the vฤhana is depicted at the deity's side or symbolically represented as a divine attribute. The vฤhana may be considered an accoutrement of the deity: though the vฤhana may act independently, they are still functionally emblematic of or even viewed as an extension of their "rider". The deity may be seen sitting or standing on the vฤhana. The deity may be sitting on a small platform, riding on a saddle, or riding bareback on the vฤhana."

Dream of the Day
Mood: buoyant | Archetype: Hero
Elements: dry pea measure
I was floating, not quite in the air, but more like my entire being was filled with helium, light and wonderfully free. Everything around me shimmered with a soft, golden light, and a sense of profound purpose hummed gently beneath it all. Then, there it was, resting on a velvet cushion: a single, perfectly dry pea. It wasn't just any pea; it felt ancient, yet vital, a tiny, unassuming sphere that held immense potential. My task, I understood with absolute clarity and an exhilarating surge of resolve, was to measure its precise dimensions.
With an almost surgical focus, I carefully picked up the pea. It felt surprisingly significant in my palm, a tiny world. I had no tools, yet I knew exactly how to proceed. My fingertips became instruments of incredible sensitivity, tracing its minute contours, calculating its exact circumference with an intuition that felt both ancient and utterly new. Each gentle rotation, each mental calibration, was performed with the utmost care, a quiet, determined act of service to something greater than myself, like a hero preparing for their quest.
And when I was done, a warm, expansive feeling spread through me. The measurement was complete, perfect. I hadn't just measured a pea; I had unlocked a secret, validated a truth, and in doing so, felt an incredible surge of power and wholeness within my own being. I knew, with a certainty that lingered even after waking, that this tiny act had made the world a subtly better, brighter place. The buoyant lightness stayed with me, a testament to the quiet triumph.

In 2021, NASA grew Hatch chile peppers aboard the ISS for 137 days; four plants in the Advanced Plant Habitat yielded 26 peppers, and the stems holding flower to fruit grew straight instead of curved as they do on Earth
NASA successfully cultivated Hatch chile peppers on the International Space Station, where the plants exhibited unique straight-stemmed growth patterns due to weightlessness. This experiment offers key insights into space agriculture and plant adaptation.
